What our briefs and materials are – and what they are not.

1. Nature of our services

WakeUp / ShieldX provides structured open-source–based risk briefs and protection guidance for organisations that deploy people into conflict and CBRN-relevant environments. We do not provide classified intelligence, and we do not claim to predict the future.

Our work is designed to support your internal decision-making and duty-of-care processes, not to replace them.

2. No guarantee of safety

Conflict zones and CBRN-relevant environments are inherently dangerous. No briefing, model or rating system can eliminate that risk. Our assessments and recommendations are provided on a conservative best-effort basis, using the information available to us at the time.

Your organisation remains responsible for:

• Its own decision to deploy or not deploy staff and contractors;
• Compliance with applicable laws, regulations and sanctions;
• Implementing appropriate security, medical and insurance arrangements.

3. No legal, medical or insurance advice

Nothing on this site or in our briefs should be taken as legal, medical, insurance or financial advice. You should consult your own qualified advisers in those fields before making decisions that depend on such advice.

4. Information sources and limitations

Our briefs primarily rely on open-source information (reputable media, official releases, think-tank work, visible damage and pattern analysis) and, where possible, anonymised feedback from people operating in relevant environments. All such sources have limitations, including delays, gaps and potential inaccuracies.

We make reasonable efforts to work with credible sources and to cross-check patterns, but we cannot guarantee that every piece of information is complete, current or accurate.

5. Export controls and local law

The availability of certain risk briefs, protection standards and physical kit may be limited by export control laws, sanctions and local regulations. We only work in jurisdictions where we can legally and ethically stand behind what we provide. You are responsible for ensuring your own compliance with applicable laws in the places where you operate.

6. Intellectual property

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all content on this site – including text, layout, graphics and PDFs – is the intellectual property of WakeUp / ShieldX or its licensors and is protected by applicable laws. You may not reproduce, distribute or adapt our materials for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WakeUp / ShieldX and its personnel will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special or incidental loss arising from your use of our website, briefs or recommendations, nor for losses arising from decisions made solely on the basis of our materials.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have actually paid us for the specific work in question.

We may update this legal notice from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the date at the bottom of this page.
